BEDELE Gospel Crusade, Ethiopia, DAY 1:

Our mass crusade in the town of Bedele began today with the first of seven services. Already, the Lord is working wonders! While not a large town, Bedele is an important hub in western Ethiopia. It was established in 1910 and is located at the intersection of roads leading to Nekemte, Gambela, and Jimma, all major centres.

Only around 20% of the inhabitants of Bedele are born again. The last crusade took place here in 2018 and the local churches, while led by wonderful pastors who are warm and hospitable, are not in the habit of holding evangelistic outreaches. Our team has laboured over the past weeks, training believers for evangelism and taking them out onto the streets and into the marketplaces to win the lost. We pray that, after this training and our crusade, the churches will grow increasingly zealous in their soul-winning efforts.

Opposing religious groups have challenged our coming here, but the Lord has been faithful. Permission to use the local stadium for our main event was revoked at the last minute, but we thank the Lord for giving us tremendous favour with the mayor—a wonderful, God-fearing man—who assisted us in clearing a ground alongside the stadium. While pipes and logs remain strewn about, they providentially serve as seating for the people.

This afternoon, our first service was glorious. I preached the Gospel—using Isaiah 61 as my text—with crystal-clear clarity. Thousands called on the name of Jesus, asking Him to wash away their sins with His precious blood. We worshipped together and prayed for the sick. Tomorrow, we will start hearing testimonies. The people are wonderfully attentive. It is going to be a spectacular weekend! Heartfelt thanks for your continued support and prayers.

BEDELE Gospel Crusade, Ethiopia, DAY 2:

We held two services today and our crowd grew dramatically. Clearly, news is spreading of what the Lord is doing and people are coming to receive from His outstretched, nail-pierced hands! Ev. Samuel Murrombe preached this morning, sharing how God made us in His image to be His children. I ministered this afternoon on the sickness of sin and how Dr Jesus can heal our spirits from this damning disease. In both services, the response to the salvation invitation was eager and overwhelming. Prayer for the sick was followed by many terrific testimonies, some of which are detailed below.

Mulunesh is a 45-year-old mother of seven. Eighteen years ago, her scalp began itching violently and unceasingly. She scratched it so badly that it bled. “The blood would run down my face,” she said. “I would eat with one hand and scratch with the other. It affected everything I did.” In addition to this torment, she suffered from terrible pains in her womb and one leg. During prayer, she felt the power of God come upon her. “I felt something leaving me,” she explained. “The itching, the pain, everything left in a moment.” Rejoicing, Mulunesh is ecstatic.

Bikiltu, aged 40, is already a believer. She attended the crusade to worship the Lord and receive prayer for healing. For nine years, the entire right side of her body had been without feeling. She dragged one leg behind her, struggling to walk. Now, all sensation has returned. “My life has completely changed!” she declared. “Thanks be to God!”

Jete is an elderly woman, between 80 and 90 years old, though she is unsure of her exact age. She had three children, but all have passed away. Fifteen years ago, severe pain began shooting down her legs. “I could not walk, I could not sit,” she said. “Everyone here knows me. They know how I suffered.” During prayer, Jesus healed her completely. Bouncing about on stage, Jete could not contain her excitement and embraced everyone around her.

Tomorrow, we will hold two services again. We are expecting many to attend from the outlying villages and our hearts are full of expectation. Thank you for praying for us!

BEDELE Gospel Crusade, Ethiopia, DAY 3:

Today was extraordinary from beginning to end. What salvations, what miracles, what exuberant praise and worship. We are rejoicing! Ev. Samuel preached this morning on the blood of Jesus, while I followed in the afternoon with a message on our Lord being the Shepherd of the sheep. Thousands called on Him to be their Saviour and extraordinary miracles manifested. Following my afternoon message, I also started teaching on how God wants to fill each of His children with the Holy Spirit and use them with power to share the Gospel and pray for the sick. I will continue with this teaching tomorrow in our final service before we pray for every believer in attendance to be filled from on High.

Enjoy some of the testimonies we heard today. The Lord is healing many.

Terefe is a 68-year-old grandfather. Two years ago, a tumour started growing on his left leg and had become very large. Living in a nearby village, he had journeyed to Bedele to consult with a doctor. Seeing the crusade being promoted, he decided to attend the service this morning. Listening to the message being preached, he decided to ask Jesus to be his Saviour. It was during the prayer for salvation that the Lord touched him, not only making him a child of God but also vanquishing the tumour. During that prayer, Terefe collapsed under the power of God. When he revived, the tumour was gone! Elated, he rushed forward to testify.

Tigist is 53 years old. She had suffered from severe insomnia for the past two years. She had visited the hospital many times, but nothing the doctors recommended had helped. Desperate, Tigist attended our services yesterday. Last night, she slept soundly and peacefully. Praise the Lord! She had also battled with unrelenting back pain, which disappeared yesterday in a wave of healing power.

Jitu is a 35-year-old mother of two who had struggled with high blood pressure since she was a teenager. The problem had plagued her for the past twenty years and every time she had her pressure tested, it was dangerously high—but not since attending our crusade! This afternoon, she went for a check-up and for the first time, her blood pressure was normal. Jitu is jubilant.

Idilu is a 35-year-old farmer. More than a decade ago, he started suffering from serious abdominal pain. It felt like something was eating him on the inside. Soon after the pain began, his head began to hurt as well. Daily life was a torment for him. During prayer, he experienced what he described as fire falling upon him. Then, the pain left! His stomach and head are now completely pain-free. “I can do what I could not do before!” he shared. “I thank Jesus who saved me!”

Tsehay is a 36-year-old widow and mother of two. Five years ago, a lump developed in her breast and her womb started hurting as well, making her job as a cleaner increasingly difficult. Now, following prayer, the lump has vanished and the pain is gone.

Tomorrow will be our final day of services here in Bedele. May the Lord work whatever still needs to be worked—and we are expecting great things!

BEDELE Gospel Crusade, Ethiopia, FINAL DAY:

Today was a day of fire—Holy Spirit fire! This morning, all evangelical churches in Bedele closed their doors and everyone gathered on the crusade field for a mass service. What a magnificent display of unity. We are grateful to the pastors for their Kingdom-mindedness. Many unbelievers were attracted to the novelty of the congregations worshipping together in the open air on a Sunday morning and joined in on the fun. I preached to a sea of umbrellas, sticking to the pure Gospel and sharing on the miracle of becoming born again, as detailed in the story of Nicodemus (John 3). Thousands called upon the Almighty and asked him to work this miracle in their own lives. It was spectacular. We prayed for the sick and the Lord worked wonders. In addition, we presented Certificates of Appreciation to the church leaders and distributed Amharic copies of my “Spirit of Fire” book.

In the afternoon, we gathered for our final service. People sat everywhere—on all sides of the stage, perched in trees, atop parked trucks and stacked pipes. A dear friend of the ministry from Sweden, Hosanna Manuel, shared a short, impactful teaching before Ev. Samuel preached the Gospel, reading from Genesis 3 and explaining that God created mankind to be in relationship with Him and how Jesus made this possible. The Lord was called upon again with enthusiasm. I followed with a final message on the Holy Spirit, explaining how to partner with Him to preach the Gospel and lay hands on the sick. We then prayed for everyone to be filled with the Spirit and the Lord saturated His children with power. It was glorious! Demons fled, people were overwhelmed by the presence of God, bondages shattered, and sicknesses skedaddled.

We prayed as well for the prayer requests that had been submitted during the crusade period and for the town of Bedele. Extensive time was spent in praise and worship, the atmosphere being one of phenomenal joy and thanksgiving. The people did not want to stop singing, they were so jubilant, making it difficult to close the service. In fact, throngs of young people continued singing as they left the field, dancing down the streets of Bedele and chanting, “The Gospel has power!” over and over again. Without doubt, the believers of this town have been set ablaze to be the mouth and hands of Jesus. May the Lord use each of them mightily for His glory!

Heartfelt thanks to all of you who made this crusade possible through your prayers and giving. As we read happened in Samaria in Acts 8, there is now great joy in this city. The lost have been saved, the sick healed, the captives set free, and believers filled with the Spirit. In short, thousands have been transformed. All glory to our Saviour King!
